Expert Teen Therapist in Yorba Linda
Are you noticing troublesome signs and behaviors from your teenager?
- Have you wondered if your child struggles with gender or sexual identity?
- Maybe you've watched your child go through overwhelming emotions like serious anxiety or depression.
- Perhaps you're worried that your teen is hanging around the wrong crowd.
If you’re the parent of a struggling teen, you may be lying awake at night replaying conversations — wondering where things shifted. Your once-talkative child now barely comes out of their room. Maybe simple questions turn into explosive arguments. You’ve tried being patient, being firm, giving space, taking away privileges — and nothing seems to work.
You’re Not Failing — You’re Worried
You might feel helpless watching grades slip, friendships fall apart, or anxiety take over daily life. Part of you worries you’ve done something wrong. Another part is scared of what happens if you don’t intervene soon. If that sounds familiar, you’re not failing — you’re a parent who cares deeply and wants the right support before things spiral further. How I Can Help
I’ve been working with teenagers since 2012 — beginning as a small group leader right after high school and eventually serving full-time as a Youth Director. For over a decade, I’ve walked alongside teens during some of the most confusing, high-pressure years of their lives.I’m on the younger side for a therapist, which means I understand today’s teen culture, social pressures, and school stress in a way many older clinicians simply can’t.
I’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact of the right influence — and the real consequences when teens don’t have steady guidance.

Teens are going through what Erik Erikson calls "Identity vs Identity Confusion". They seek to create their
own identity that is separate from their parents. It is a difficult but necessary developmental milestone in your child's life.
They need to take steps and actions that differ from their parents, so they can start figuring out who they are, what they like and
dislike. Choosing a career that fits their personality is well informed by this process. The more a parent pushes their ways onto their teen,
the more they rebel. Another major factor is that teens value approval from their peers over parental guidance.
Usually, I have the parent come into the first session with their child. This is almost always the case if you have young children. On the
other hand, if you have a teenager, often times they will feel more comfortable meeting individually by themselves without the parent.
It is sometimes hard for teens to open up honestly around their parents. I can offer general progress on how the sessions are going, but in most
cases, the details are best left to be confidential. The exception to that rule is if I suspect your child will be a harm to themselves or others,
then I am required to break confidentiality and report things like that the safety of the children.
